Guest Lecture – One

Today we received a lecture from Dean Humphreys, who gave us an extremely useful insight into how conduct yourself when working in the music industry.

He spoke about an acronym called TCP which was his key three things that makes someone employable in the industry, this consisted of;

T: Technical – Understanding the technologies that you are required to use daily

C: Creative – Having ideas and the philosophy to present them

P: People politics – Having the fundamental skill sets to deal with people in the appropriate manners

Whilst mainly common sense these are important things for me to remember along with his major emphasis on time keeping and being early … extremely early to everything.

Initial Tutorial – Project Idea

Today Aaron and myself had a meeting with Lee to go over our project idea.

We discussed we would be working on a client project for a group of media students.

We will be working on a film in which we will be providing location sound and post production work.

We discussed the option of providing a score or writing music for this film also, however Lee advised us otherwise as this would be to much work for us to take on. He suggested that we offer to add any music created by a third party or sourced elsewhere when we mix and that would be the extent of it.

Following this meeting our future meetings will be held with Dave McSherry and lee has asked us to create some projects aims and learning outcomes.
